Sats Perform is a multinational sports data and analytics company. The company is involved in sports data collection and predictive analysis, and maintains sports-oriented wire services. The company has also been increasingly involved in artificial intelligence and machine learning. I joined their Innovation Team in 2020 as a Software Engineer. My job is to develop solutions for processing large amounts of data in a market that requires accuracy and speed.
BearingPoint is a multinational management and technology consulting firm.
I joined their offices in Graz, Austria as a Java developer and participated in a series of Business Support System projects, designed for telecomunications companies.
The projects consisted of end-to-end business solutions including CRM, service provisioning and configuration, ordering, billing, mediation and inventory management.
Some of the technologies used were Oracle SQL, Maven, Spring, Vagrant, Hybernate, VirtualBox, etc...
I worked in a team of about 15 developers, using agile software development with SCRUM as our work methodology.
Eventually, I became experienced with the workflow and the technologies we were using, so I took on additional responsibilities, such as championing user stories and teaching junior developers.
In between, I was also tasked with investigating the AWS cloud computing service in order to determine whether it was useful to the company.
In 2015, Elmitel employed me as a Java developer. It was a small company with 4 developers working on various web services and android applications. I started working on a web application that featured a map with a live overview of a fleet of drivers. It's features included optimal route calculation and delivery time predictions and simulations.
Later I took on an additional project, which consisted of a web application and an android app. I was tasked with developing the web application which, similarly featured a map overview with some live gps items that it gathered by communicating with the mobile devices. It was intended as a communication tool among seafarers.
While working towards my Computer Science degree at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Maribor, I was aproached and offered to work as a developer in one of the Faculty's research laboratories.
I gladly accepted the offer and so my career path began in the Gemma laboratory. I worked closely with 2 other developers in an office of about 15. We worked on several projects whose main commonality was web maps - they were all web applications that made use of the OpenLayers and GeoServer technologies (GIS applications), which allow you to display a complex and dynamic map in a web browser.
In persuit of a degree, I enrolled in Computer Science at the University of Maribor. In my last year of education there, I was also hired as a developer by one of the research laboratories.
While working at the University of Maribor, I set on finishing my Bachelor's project. I created a web application for creating digital maps called Kingdom Mapper and wrote a paper around it.
After primary school I decided to attent a Gymnasium in Maribor, Slovenia. A gymnasium is a type of high school with a strong emphasis on academic learning, and providing advanced secondary education.
